Aim:

To teach, or refresh students’ knowledge in the area of testing underground drainage systems. 

Learning Objectives: 

This module ’Testing Drains’ covers the different methods of testing drains, including water, air (high and low pressure) and smoke testing and the benefits and procedures for each type of test

This course is designed to provide students with the resources and skills to correctly Identify the different testing procedures required depending on the type and location of the drain, the standard or code being used, and the type of test being conducted. 

 

Content: 

Descriptions and instructions of the different tools used when testing a drain.  Allowable testing procedures, and the benefits/limitations of each method.

 

Teaching Learning Methods:
• Completion by the student of a printed workbook (kept by the student for use as reference at later dates)
• Workbook based tasks requiring the student to reference relevant codes supplied  to  ensure the student has knowledge to comply.

 

 

Assessment Details:

Online multiple choice assessment of which the result is automatically forwarded to the Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers Board.
