Student Requirement:

To complete this course the student is required to have a copy of NZS 5261 Gas Installation

Aim:

To assist students to be able to identify, design, and install a variety of different LPG pressure control and storage systems with associated components; including a better understanding of limitations of different sized cylinders and the processes involving vaporisation.

Content:

This module ‘LPG Installations’ includes information on different cylinder valve types which are used on various systems. The reasons behind different methods of installation, relevance of components and their functions, and which components may vary in the different systems. Trade science related information including pressure, temperature relationship, dealing with vaporisation and understanding clearance requirements of NZS 5261.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module students will be able to identify LPG cylinder system types, and understand better understand the installation requirements of each system type.

Teaching Learning Methods:

  • Completion by the student of a printed workbook (kept by the student for use as reference at later dates)
  • Visual Presentation to be viewed in conjunction with workbook along with tasks requiring the student reference relevant codes to help ensure the student has knowledge to comply.

Assessment Details:

Online Multiple Choice Assessment of which the result is automatically forwarded to the Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers Board.
